While there was speculation that PokerStars would launch in New Jersey on October 1st having received their license we’re long past that date and nothing was official. However, while we have heard no official word, PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker could go live any day now. State evaluations are being still being conducted, remember this is for NJ customers only. So if you are ready for the PokerStars’ return to the virtual felt, we’ve provided a breakdown of the rules and regulations for playing online poker in the Garden State. • Online Poker on the Uptick?

    Dan Michalski
    13 Sep 2014 | 6:08 pm
Believe it or not, I’m playing online poker again. I’ve bought in three times already, so yay, it works (and is super-easy to play for real money), but cannot yet report on the cash-out process, because you know … damn river. But now that we have online poker in Nevada definitively running and here to stay, I’ve started paying a little more attention, and it seems a lotta eyes are on New Jersey right now. Not only do you have Gov. Chris Christie making an aggressive, courts- and DOJ-challenging push for fully legalized and legitimized sports betting inside his borders, but also you…
  • Education of a Poker Player Responsible Gaming Service Provider

    Dan Michalski
    4 Aug 2014 | 4:51 pm
It’s Responsible Gaming Education Week, August 4-8, you probably know, or maybe not, because “responsible gaming” isn’t exactly something we celebrate in a culture that extols the virtue of being “All In”. And it’s not likely that poker is about to see any special prizes for best bankroll management or superior game selection or, say, excellent investment of tournament winnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. So RGEW is an annual campaign from the National Center for Responsible Gaming, which is the AGA’s officially independent 501c3 that gets $25…

Sheldon Adelson turns 81 today, which makes him still just a kid according to my grandmother. We of course all know Adelson is a wealthy man, but I didn’t realize he was the richest person in Nevada (like by far). I mean sure, he woulda made my shortlist if you asked, but I didn’t really place his economic stature in context until seeing this bit of data porn showing who has the largest net worth by state. So what do you get a man who has everything? OK, maybe Adelson doesn’t have everything, but he does have more personal wealth than the GDP of nearly 100 independent nations.

There are a few people who stand out in poker because they do things differently than most everyone else — in ways we all know we’d stand to benefit by emulating. Unfortunately, too often we don’t recognize that until these people are gone. Chad Brown will forever be attached to the Summer of 2014 for a bracelet he probably wished he didn’t have to win, and on Sunday is the farewell event open to players who want to remember poker is all about real life and real lives … and that’s what can make it so fun. The state recorded revenue declines for the third straight month after a 6.7% decline in September. The Nevada Gaming Control Board released revenue figures on Monday and statewide online poker collected $693,000 in revenue during September, the lowest figure since the GCB started releasing iPoker win rate. There is a lot of confidence in New Jersey that there will be sports betting this Sunday at Monmouth Park. Legal analysts do not share the same view. New Jersey has little in the way to gain from a tax point of view. Its sports betting win will be taxed as a sports pool…

  • Get In the Game for $5k in Bovada Weekly Online Poker Freerolls

Sure, those can help pay for buy-ins to micro SNG’s and cash games. They just won’t give you enough money to play the higher stakes games. Here at PokerOnaMac, we seek out online poker freerolls that have large prize pools. We’ve found a great freeroll at Bovada. • 5 Most Common Mistakes That Cause You to Lose Money in Poker

    Jon Sofen
    18 Sep 2014 | 3:46 pm
There is a fine line between winning and losing in poker. Winning poker players don’t always play flawless. Everyone makes mistakes. Even the great Phil Ivey occasionally calls off his stack when he’s crushed. However, the difference between Ivey – and other winning players – is he doesn’t continually make the same mistake. More specifically, winning poker players don’t consistently make these mistakes: 5 Expensive Mistakes in Poker Mistake #1: Playing “short stacked” Bankroll management is essential. If you don’t have a bankroll of at least 20x the buy-in you will likely go…

  • Ray Bitar had Numerous Bank Accounts and Companies

    Jeremy Olson
    28 Oct 2014 | 2:36 pm
Ray Bitar became the classic fall guy when Full Tilt Poker collapsed in 2011 and millions of dollars in player deposits were stuck on the site. Did Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer and Rafe Furst all play a part in this? Yeah it’s a good bet that they at least had some role to play. But nobody drew as much hate as Bitar, and he’s not going to get any more popular with the latest findings that were released by feds. According to recent information, the US Department of Justice took money from 18 bank accounts in 5 different countries. Not sketchy enough for you? How about the fact…

The Ivey Poker Facebook app was starting to develop a following on Facebook. And why wouldn’t it since the app bears the name of 10-time WSOP champ and cash-game crusher Phil Ivey. But those who follow news from Ivey Poker were greeted with a surprising message – the app has been taken out of circulation! So does this mean that Ivey Poker is another fly-by-night poker operation that quickly shut down? Not in the slightest according to the site. And they explained their situation with the following message: We’ve come a long way…. Since we launched out game here at ivey…
  • Do Poker Players need to put the Alcohol Down?

    Jeremy Olson
    26 Oct 2014 | 3:30 pm
For years, one marketing tool that online poker sites used was this image that the game is full of wealthy, partying playboys. Take a look inside the home of the average online pro on a Friday night – where you’ll likely find them alone multi-tabling 8-12 tables – and you’ll know that this image is far from the norm. However, the game has often been marketed this way in the past. And perhaps some of this partying image might be true, at least according to a survey performed by Jackpot.co.uk. The survey asked a variety of British gamblers questions pertaining to health…
  • Gus Hansen’s Poker Career not Over – But Live Appearances may be

    Jeremy Olson
    23 Oct 2014 | 7:58 am
Just the other day, we reported that Full Tilt dropped Gus Hansen and Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom as sponsored players. The move wasn’t a total surprise, given both of their struggles on the virtual felt. But could one grim byproduct of this be a huge downgrade in Hansen’s poker appearances? Gus is a guy who built his career in the live realm, both with televised cash game appearances and big live tournament wins. In fact, he was the first guy to win three WPT titles – a feat that he accomplished within less than a year. Aside from his accomplishments, the Great Dane…
  • Lock Poker Scam continues: Players owed $3.1m

    22 Oct 2014 | 6:45 am
Lock Poker continues sinking further into the abyss as their player traffic decreases and their debt to players keeps mounting. Thanks to information by both TwoPlusTwo poster ‘IHasTehNutz’ and EverythingPokerNJ, it’s been confirmed that Lock players are owed over $3.1 million. Currently, 394 players are awaiting a combined $941,000 in withdrawals – money that hasn’t been paid in over a year. Furthermore, 205 of these players have another $2.2 million in their accounts. A surprising statistic in all of this is how the US-friendly Lock Poker needs to honor $1.7…

  • The Most Players your Pocket Aces have held up against?

I thought this might be a fun thread. What's the most players your pocket aces have held up against in a hand? My first time playing $5NL full ring, I picked up AA in the bb. I got two limpers from UTG and UTG+2 and the small blind completed. I made it 20c preflop and the flop came Kxx board with two diamonds. They all called. I'm not too incredibly comfortable with 3 other players in the pot, but the board looked innocuous enough. Sb checks to me, I decide to forego by usual c-bet and nullify being first to act by shipping it as I didn't have too much behind ($2.50 or so) and the pot was…

Alright... We are sitting at a tournament and two guys are happily chatting to each other and winning pots stealing blinds.... It's quite irritating being card dead and not being able to shove or reraise these guys and put them off balance. So my thinking is poker is more than a cards game it's a mental game. So without the card aspect what subtle or non subtle way would you use to throw these two guys off? Make them upset or cranky??? Just to get them to have negative energy because it was all going their way. Keep asking for his chip count? Ask random stupid questions? Ask if their dating?

  • Lock Poker Payouts In October & November 2014

    admin
    15 Oct 2014 | 11:04 pm
Lock Poker was once the largest poker site open to US players in 2014. Now they rank as the smallest US poker site in October, 2014. They got booted off of the Revolution Poker Network because of their slow payouts and the fact that they were only paying some players. LockPoker.eu rebranded when they got kicked off their network and became a stand-alone room. Several months ago Lock Poker attempted to get around their evil reputation by launching SuperWins.eu, a skin that uses the same platform and has the same players. The new Super Wins poker room in 2014  should be avoided. It is kind of…

Do you think Jeff Gordon, Dael Earnhardt or perhaps lady drive Danica Patrick is going to win a NASCAR race or Formula 1 race or maybe the Indy 500? Well if you are going to bet on a woman you might as well look for a free NASCAR bet offer at an online sportsbook for Americans since you don’t want to waste your own money. It’s not as though a woman can win a race, unless it is a race to make-up sale. I’m just kidding. You can get a free NASCAR bet in 2014 at the top US sportsbooks though. I have several free bet offers on NASCAR, Formula 1, Indy 500 or any kind of car racing…

Players who use our link to visit the casino and use our USA casino bonus code no deposit in 2014 will get free money to play blackjack online. There are several reasons why a person would enjoy playing poker online without making a deposit. Some people just don’t have the extra money. Others – especially Americans – are unable to make a deposit. Other people may not want to deposit money at a poker room because they are not sure if it is legal or legit. None of these reasons will stop a person from trying to win money though. I would think that there are countless people who have built up a large poker balance without ever making a deposit. Every week there are millions of dollars up for grabs at online poker…

I won my first H2H NBA tournament last night. In the FanDuel H2H format, you want to increase your floor. Avoid the high risk, high reward players, and go with the sure things. After all, you only need to beat out 50% of the field (one opponent) to be profitable. I will go over the good decisions I made and a few of my mistakes.                   Good Moves: Donald Sloan. As a lifelong NBA Fan I usually at least recognize most names on any team. This was not the case with Mr. Sloan. Although the 76ers/Pacers game had a low over under of 189.5, I…

I am a poker player. I’ve spent a lot of time in Las Vegas. One time I spent a month in Vegas straight. I started off in a Venetian suite and downsized to Excalibur and eventually Hooters as my bankroll shrunk. Although I love sports, I never got into sports betting. I remember sitting in the Rio hotel watching my backer put $7000 into a baseball parlay and come up short on the final game. It always seemed to me that whoever was making the lines in Vegas were dead on. Combine that with the 10% rake and only the best of the best can be long term winners betting on sports. To be honest, I…

I woke up this morning to find that Nikola Vucevic and the Orlando Magic agreed upon a four-year, $54 million dollar extension. Wasn’t Vucevic just a rookie? Looks like the 2012 NBA draft class is started to get paid.  After two years in the league, it starts to become apparent who has start potential, who has bust potential. It happens every year; teams overpay a player for potential, a potential that many never reach. Every now and then, a bargain contract is given to a player that blossoms into a star a year later (cough, Stephen Curry, cough). I signed into FanDuel to see if the…
